Planimetry as a method for measuring wounds

Measuring the measure of the wound is a fundamental aspect of assessment. Nevertheless, in clinical practice, subjective methods are still being used for this purpose. Today, one of the existing methods is planimetry. A systematic review of literature was carried out to analyze the use of planimetry as a means to measure wounds in the skin, gastric mucosa and eyes. Forty-three articles were selected and analyzed, out of which 27 used planimetry as an instrument to evaluate the healing process. The association of both photography and computerized planimetry was found in 8 the studies.Downloads
