The objective of this investigation was to understand the process of being an adolescent and mother through drawing story technique. This study is based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Social Representation. It was developed in a public maternity hospital in the municipality of Fortaleza-CE in the period between September 2006 and January 2007 with 25 adolescent in puerperium through the technique of drawing-story as theme, that converged in three dimensions: physical-organic, psychological-affective and psychosocial. In the physical-organic dimension the youngster's anatomical fragility and biological immaturity to conceive a child was cited. Motherhood anchored in the psychological-affective element is characterized by conflictual relationship between lack of affection and rejection and happiness and satisfaction on the child's presence. In the psychosocial dimension, the mother is associated with conducts considered important for the social and cognitive development of children.Downloads
