Abstract

The work conducts an analysis of the Stonewall Riots, investigating its occurrence, impact and developments. In this sense, question which factors led to the effectiveness of the Stonewall episode, considering both the uprising itself and its historical repercussions. Thus, applying literature review technique and a reconstructive approach, the historical event is reconstructed from secondary sources. Simultaneously, based on theoretical references provided by Machiavelli's work, historical facts are analyzed in an attempt to understand the singular characteristics that made its occurrence and effectiveness possible. Finally, it is concluded that it was the combination of specific elements of strength, virtú and fortune and temporality that covered the revolt of such importance, making it a milestone in the history of the LGBTI + movement worldwide.
