This communication will focus on a number of research projects on glazed ceramic tiles presently being pursued at LNEC (Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil), in Lisbon-Portugal. It will aim to show how the results may help restorers adopt procedures better suited to each case. It will also refer a case where instrumental analysis helped historians accept or reject previously stated hy-potheses.
