Abstract

We present here the translation of the article “Les stratégies éditoriales de Sophie Calle”, by Cécile Camart, originally released on the book Littérature et Photographie (2008), by Presses Universitaires de Rennes. In this paper, Camart describes the changes in the french publishing from 1981, mainly with regards to photography, consequence of innovations on the artistic production that leads to a new form of narrative photoliterary. The autor places Sophie Calle in this context, and demonstrates her role in the renovation of the french publishing, in sintony with her artistic route and her connexion with another emblematic photographers, such as Denis Roche and Bernard Plossu. The paper also shows that her work is full of elements from popular imagery, photonovel, mass medias, tabloids, and it presents, at the same time, traits of relic, of precious, of collection, combining autobiographical elements with fiction. The analysis of this French artist’s editorial strategies allows the autor to course along the major works by Sophie Calle in its several developments and midias: from the notebook to the artist’s book, going through the situations and the exhibitions in galleries and museums.
