This article reflects on concepts such as power, identity and resocialization, through a careful look at the documentary film O cárcere e a rua, directed by Brazilian filmmaker Liliana Schwab (2004). The research develops an analysis of the moving image and the sound of that work, as well as seeking to identify characteristics of the filmic representation constituted by the three social actresses who star in the film and how they are interconnected in the constitution of the narrative.
