Overlapping the debates on postmodernity, in the 1980s, the advent of a discourse that establishes itself as a research focus in the field of cultural and political studies: the discourse on memory, especially, but not only, on traumatic memory. On the other hand, in the context of contemporary art, there is a series of productions that establish
dialogues with nature, the environment and with the notion of a dilapidated and torn landscape, increasingly affected by the historical, traumatic, and dystopian events that characterize our time. In this sense, this paper discusses, within an interdisciplinary perspective, the relationship between memory, nature, and violence from the dialogue with the thinking of Walter Mignolo (2017) and the works of Latin American artists such as Ana Mendieta, Enrique Ramírez, Ayrson Heráclito, Danilo Barata and Giselle Beiguelman.
