The diagnostic documentation has helped conservators and restorers in the intervention planning, in the study of techniques and materials, and in researches about the materiality of the cultural objects. This paper seeks to identify resources that assist in the registration and retrieval of information regarding the diagnosis applied to bibliographic objects. From the review of the notion of conservation documentation, three models of files were selected for evaluation. This analysis allowed us to identify strategies to optimize the recording of information, such as the use of notes, acronyms, abbreviations, graphic schemes and glossary. It also made possible to verify methodological steps inherent to the conservation diagnosis and confirmed the need for the use of some resources identified in the documentation models analyzed.
