The paper proposes a discussion about the narrative aspects of photographs presented in photobooks. The investigation starts from a methodological perspective that takes the semiotic approach to visual narratives and to the interrelationships between text and image as a way of understanding the construction of meaning in image narratives located in editorial works. Throughout the text, editorial experiments that take place in the books are discussed as they help to understand the aesthetic potential of photobooks. Finally, a provisional classification of narratives in photobooks is addressed, focusing attention on visual metaphors and enunciative mechanisms that propose the construction of new relationships of meaning based on the sequencing of images.
