Boticários e farmacêuticos: divergências e conflitos nas artes de curar na região das Minas Gerais na segunda metade dos oitocentos

Resumo

Este artigo analisa as querelas entre os boticários/farmacêuticos e demais atuantes nas artes de curar na região das Minas oitocentistas a partir de documentos relacionados à saúde pública. Nesta documentação estão registradas as denúncias, os desabafos, as divergências e conflitos entre boticários ou farmacêuticos acadêmicos e práticos, entre estes, os médicos e os comerciantes. Estes documentos enfatizam a busca dos oficiantes habilitados, respaldados pela legislação, por uma delimitação e afirmação profissional, uma vez que seu campo de atuação era invadido por práticos da cura. Tais fontes constituem-se em vestígios que contribuem de maneira ímpar para a história da medicina, da farmácia e da saúde. Com a análise proposta, serão conhecidas as queixas, o comportamento das personagens envolvidas, as relações construídas entre os boticários desabilitados e a população, a postura das autoridades, as diferentes atuações dos boticários e a diversidade no universo da cura no tempo e local assinalado.

Abstract:
This article analyzes the quarrels between the apothecaries / pharmaceutical and others working in the healing arts in the region of Minas nineteenth century, from documents related to public health and with the support of bibliographical sources. In this documentation are registered reports, the complaints, disagreements and conflicts between apothecaries or pharmacists scholars and practitioners, among them, doctors and merchants. These documents emphasize the search for qualified officiants, backed by legislation, by delimiting and asserting a professional, once their playing field was invaded by practical cure. Such sources are traces in a unique way of contributing to the history of medicine, pharmacy and health. With this analysis, the complaints will be known, the behavior of the characters involved, the relationships built between the pharmacist and the disabled population, the attitude of the authorities, the different performances of apothecaries and diversity in the world of healing in time and place indicated.
