O herói revivido: Martí e o discurso revolucionário cubano

Resumo

A revista cubana Casa de las Américas foi fundada em 1960 no contexto da Revolução Cubana (1959), constituindo-se como espaço de discussão e debate entre intelectuais envolvidos com o processo revolucionário. A publicação atuou no campo cultural e político latino-americano, não só difundindo e circulando ideias e noções, mas também construindo e estabelecendo discursos acerca de uma perspectiva oficial do processo cubano. Assim, buscou validar um modelo revolucionário no qual se insere seu projeto editorial. Neste artigo, pretende-se analisar um mecanismo de legitimação empregado por Casa de las Américas que se constitui sobre a figura e a obra de José Martí (1853-1895). Este intelectual cubano surge na revista como base de discursos de identidade, de apropriação histórica e de modelo revolucionário. A premissa central é de que o estudo da produção e da circulação destes discursos e concepções em tal contexto permite uma abordagem e aproximação diferenciadas da história intelectual latino-americana.

ABSTRACT: The Cuban review Casa de las Américas was founded in 1960 in the context of the Cuban Revolution (1959), constituting a space for discussion and debate among intellectuals involved with the revolutionary process. The publication has acted in the Latin American cultural and political field, not only spreading and circulating ideas and concepts, but also building and establishing discourses about an official view of the Cuban process. Therefore it attempted to validate a revolutionary model in which is inserted its editorial project. This article aims to analyze a mechanism of legitimation employed by Casa de las Américas that was erected on the figure and work of José Martá (1853-1895). Thus, this Cuban intellectual appears in the journal as basis of discourses of identity, historical appropriation and revolutionary model. The central premise is that the study of the production and circulation of these discourses and concepts in this context allows a differentiated approach of Latin American intellectual history.
