Intelectuais e República: Educação Integral no pensamento de Dario Vellozo

Resumo

A pesquisa em apreço possui como objetivo discutir a proposta de “educação
integral” apresentada por Dario Vellozo - importante intelectual, escritor e professor que viveu no Paraná entre os anos 1885 e 1937. Segundo Vellozo, seria por meio das educações física,intelectual, moral, estética e cívica que o cidadão estaria apto a ingressar e atuar na sociedade.
Nossa análise tomou como fonte seu manual didático intitulado Compêndio de Pedagogia, publicado em 1907, buscando compreender como o autor articula suas ideias de formação do aluno. Assim, na presente pesquisa, buscamos fazer uma análise pautada pela História Intelectual, levando em consideração os elementos textuais e contextuais. Por fim, concluímos que Vellozo defendia que a educação do cidadão deveria ser fomentada pela ideia de formação do corpo e da mente, com base na ciência e em alguns ideais republicanos.

ABSTRACT: The research aims to discuss the proposed "integral education" by Dario Vellozo -an important intellectual, writer and teacher who lived in Parana between 1885 and 1937. According to Vellozo, through physical, intellectual, moral, aesthetic and civic educations, citizens would be able to enter and act in society. Our analysis took as its source his Summary of Pedagogy, published in 1907, seeking to understand how the author articulates his ideas about student education. Thus, in this research, we make an analysis marked by the Intellectual History, taking into account the textual and contextual elements. Finally, we conclude that Vellozo endorses that the education of citizens should be encouraged by the idea of training the body and mind, based in science and some republican ideals.
