Abstract

The purpose of this text is to propose a theoretical discussion on the possibilities of research in communication, based on the texts of Theodoro Adorno and M. Horkheimer. From the discussion on the Cultural Industry pointed out by German theorists, other fields of cultural studies sought to expand the scope of analysis, sometimes converging, sometimes diverging from the Frankfurt School's proposals. In this text, in addition to these reflections, we present the debates on British Cultural Studies under the leadership of Raymond Willians, the new German studies by Vilém Flusser, Friedrich Kittler and Dietmar Kamper and, finally, the works of Douglas Kellner, who sought to articulate Frankfurt current with British Cultural Studies.
