Abstract

This text explores the representation of the caboclo in Paraense literature, highlighting their complex ethnic identity, often marked by alterity and a sense of marginalization. The diverse cultural layers that permeate amazonian’s history reflect multiple social structures, patterns of occupation, cosmological systems, and material and symbolic expressions. The caboclo, in turn, acts as a reflection of the exclusions perpetrated by the colonizer. They incorporate elements of Black and Indigenous cultures and demonstrate resistance in the face of this colonization. With this study, we aim to recognize and understand these experiences, seeking in the works A Ilha da Ira by Paes Loureiro and O Minossauro by Benedicto Monteiro, a presentation of the caboclo version of the history of the Brazilian military dictatorship.
