A construção da arte africana: criações de uma ‘situação colonial’

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how objects originating from the African continent during the period of colonization were transformed into 'art' by European artistic vanguards and European Museums. Analyze how they were incorporated into the Western aesthetic framework and, at the same time, how the image of primacy in relation to the African cultures was conceived. The main line of analysis is based on the perception of the alterity construction between colonizers and colonized, which can be understood through the concepts of 'colonial situation' and 'anachronistic space' and through the pathologies perceived by Frantz Fanon.
