Abstract

This research aims to analyze the book "Contos Cívicos do Brasil ", by Theobaldo Miranda Santos, an important Brazilian intellectual who wrote several works on education in the 1950s. In this sense, we sought to analyze the heroic constructions of some historical personages listed by the author. To reach this objective, we used authors who discuss education in the period and the performance of Theobaldo Miranda Santos in the national scenario. Finally, the research helped us to understand the importance of the didactic book as an important source of research for the history of education, being a key element to understand the educational intricacies of certain historical periods.
