Abstract

This work, based on the novel “Terra Encharcada”, published by “Clube do Livro Editora” of São Paulo in 1968, the only work of fiction written by the Braziliam Government Minister; Brazilian Army Artillery Colonel and politician Jarbas Gonçalves Passarinho, whose plot original portrayed cases of a sexual nature, especially homoaffective  sexual among rubber tappers in the interior of the Paraense Amazon Forest, seeks to clarify and demonstrate how the moral censorship of the Brazil´s Military Dictatorship Government (1964-1985) acted. For this reason, and others, the publisher, agreeing with the ideological guidelines of the Military Regime, “made” several cuts to the ploto of “Terra Encharcada” novel, not only of a sexual nature, but also of profanity in the year following the official censorship of books and public amusement with the orthogation of the Federal Constitution from 1967.
