Abstract

The teaching of history in heritage education allowed the construction of the exhibition “Who tells a story increases one point: the imaginary of the city of Porto Alegre”at the Museum of  Communication Hipólito José da Costa. A space where mediators and students have built together knowledge related to the imaginary of the city of Porto Alegre, especially the legend of Maria Degolada. From the exhibition, it was possible to (re) construct the narratives about Maria Francelina/da Conceição/Degolada, observing how her identity as as woman and victim was being transformed during the historical process. In view os this, this article aims to understand the importance of female representativeness for the educational process from the analysis of the case experienced at the Museum, understanding the importance of the femate presence as an educator in the construction of debates on themes such as feminicide and the issue of gender from the exhibition and understand how history teaching works in the reconstruction of narratives with sensitive themes for female students.
