Abstract

Los decentes (2016), by Lukas Valenta Rinner, takes place in a luxury condominium in the suburb of Buenos Aires. In it, a maid discovers that alongside her tedious work routine in the condominium, there is a naturist community. Gradually Belén, the maid, crosses the country wall and gets involved with the community that, in the end, invades the condominium and murders its residents. While the technical discourse propagandizes and sells a way of life in the countries – neighborhoods and gated communities –, some contemporary Argentine films, of which “Los decentes” is an example, seek to unveil the universe of the apparent perfection of the so-called “urban bubbles”. In this sense, the present work proposes to think and problematize the expansion and growth of the Argentine countries, which become more and more common enterprises in the country, and the type of city forged by a middle and upper class whose community aspiration projected within walls from differentiation from others.
