Abstract

In the historical process linked to the field of cure in Brazil, it is observed the existence in periods such as, for example, in the colonial period, of close relations between erudite medicine and popular medicine. In the XXI century, on the other hand, there are great distinctions between them, since traditional medicine has reaffirmed itself in diferente sheres of society. However, part of the population still seeks solutions to their problems, whether of the body and/or spiritual, in individuals who carry the knowledge of the popular cure, such as spiritual healers. In this sense, considering that these popular cultural manifestations are associated with historical-social experience, the object of the study of this rearch is anchored in relationship between disease and might from the practice of benzeticton in the municipatlity of Caldas, Minas Gerais, in the time frame of the 2000’s, considering the influence of social and identity aspects in these conceptions. Under the contributions of Social Hitory and Oral History, the research used oral sources through an interview with a spiritual healer in the socio-spatial section.
