O "Livro intitulado Apprendiz Curioso" e o estudo os astros em Portugal no século XVII

Abstract

This research pretends to approach the study of stars in Portugal in the 17^th century, taking as reference a handwritten work produced in his first decades. This way is possible to explore the handling and teaching of astronomy as well as astrology in Portuguese territory, which was under the tutelage of the Society of Jesus. It’s our objective to cover his content as well, based on the hegemonic medieval cosmological model that took as foundations the classical authors, mainly Aristotle and Ptolemy. Apprendis Curiozo however, still reference some “novelties” presented by the moderns, turning into an interesting document for analyze that period intellectual production.
