O CAMINHO DA SERVIDÃO E A CARTA DE HENRY MAKSOUD PARA HAYEK
UM OLHAR A PARTIR DA HISTÓRIA DAS IDEIAS
Abstract
The book of the Austrian economist Friedrich August Von Hayek entitled Road to Serfdom was first published in Brazil in 1946, having its second edition in 1977. The year 1977 coincides with some visits Hayek made to the country to spread his economic thought, being a of the main goals of the chain that became known as neoliberalism. Considering these aspects, this article, supported by the theoretical framework of the History of Ideas, intends to explore as historical source letters exchanged between the Brazilian businessman Henry Maksoud and the author of Road to Serfdom. The hypothesis is that, through Maksoud's reading of The Road of Serfdom, the interest in financing Hayek's visits to Brazil to spread his thinking among business elites was aroused. It is necessary to make a critical analysis of Hayek's thought, considering that neoliberalism is responsible for social inequalities and social injustices, promoting important disparities in the capitalist system.
