Abstract

The dialogues between History and Cinema have become a very promising research field, with vigor and historiographic potential. This field developed under the canons of New Cultural History, exploring, expanding and contrasting the theorizations and methodologies proposed by Marc Ferro, its greatest exponent. Thus, this article resumes the discussions and reflections on the relations between History and cinema, which is increasingly consolidated as an important area of historical studies. The text highlights the theoretical and methodological perspective of Pierre Sorlin and Marc Ferro, to understand the way in which these historians conceived cinema as an object of historical reflection.
