A visão de um Brasil sincrético religioso (1940)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article aims to analyze the 1940 census and present the religious context of that period. From this assessment, the syncretic aspect present in Brazil is observed and how this process presents a re-signification of religious conceptions in spiritist doctrines, in Catholicism and in African-based religions. Thus, the work was developed according to the quantitative and qualitative method of the data arranged in the Census and based on the bibliographic review in books, articles and periodicals, as well as images displayed on the website of the National Library and IBGE, together with a bibliographic survey. With that, there is the observance of Brazil as a country that shows itself to be multicultural and multiethnic. Among the studies that guide the research, we observe the scholar Giumbelli and the researches on spiritism. In addition to studies by intellectuals such as Arthur Ramos, who emphasizes the experience of the black population and African-based religions through an anthropological perspective.
