Abstract

The present article has the intention of analyzing how does Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque, two of the major creators of the brazilian popular music, read in their doings what we named “modernization collapse”. This means the end of the developmentalists/moderns experiences in the brazilian scenario, after the end of the Military Regime and the return of democracy in the country. In our interpretation, both are opposing in the means that Caetano sees himself as a foreign in this scene, while Chico denounces the barbarism stabilished.
