Abstract

This article aims to report and discuss the practices involving the Heritage Education concepts presented to the fourth grade students from elementary school, employing an heritage building of Pelotas/RS, Simões Lopes Castle, as the object of appropriation of these students. One of the motivations for choosing this space is due to the severe degree of degradation that the Castle faced, both due to vandalism as well as the actions of the time and the lack of maintenance. Such practices were developed during the year 2017, as a project for the Heritage Education I and II subjects of the Bachelor of History undergraduate course at Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). The project was developed in two stages, the first with the elaboration when the object was defined, and then the second stage, which consisted of its actual implementation.
