Abstract

The present work intends to realize a study on the films Cornered (1945) and The house on 92nd street 92 (1945). With the entrance of the United States in World War II cinematographic productions have expanded exponentially. Seeking support for civil mobilization, the US government sought in Hollywood a unique source to unite the world of entertainment and propaganda, fostering productions aimed at enhancing patriotism, militarism and the American way of life. In the opposite direction, the films noirs through their subversive narrative, behind the screen of movie theaters, visions critical and alternative as to the consequences of the world conflict for the civil society. Included in this category, we intend to demonstrate how Cornered and The House on 92nd Street intend to demonstrate the events of World War II and also suggest the postwar US and world scene.
