The inventory of the invetory

a micro-historical analysis

Abstract

The micro-historical approach, as a form of research and writing, has been increasingly sought after in recent years for being able to understand something from the past through a delimited fragment, making anonymous figures, for example, spokespeople of a society that is generally seen from the perspective of the great idols. Using microanalysis to study post-mortem inventories, it is possible to bring to light the details of lives, places, situations and even mentalities. This article intends precisely to discuss in a theoretical way the relevance of micro-historical studies, as a way of searching and showing results, and of inventories, as valuable primary sources, in the understanding of the men of yesterday.
