The main scope of this article is to present a critical analysis of the work of the Argentine writer María Negroni, with an emphasis on her book Pequeño mundo ilustrado (2011, 2021). As an organizing background for the analysis, I seek to reflect on how Negroni’s production is inseparable from a critical-theoretical consideration about the possible connections between transparency and opacity. The article is organized into three movements: the first of them aims to contextualize the author, directing the discussion towards the book Pequeño mundo ilustrado; the second movement reiterates the fundamental presence of Joseph Cornell in Negroni’s poetics, both with regard to the themes of their works and with regard to the narrative techniques elaborated by Negroni based on Cornell; the third movement summarizes the axes presented through an analysis of Negroni’s book entitled Cartas extraordinárias.
