Efeito do extrato pirolenhoso sobre a germinação de espécies do Cerrado brasileiro

O cerrado é o segundo maior bioma brasileiro e tem como característica a vulnerabilidade à ocorrência de fogo. O fogo tem grande influencia sobre a germinação de sementes e o estabelecimento de plantas, tendo sido estudado por diversos pesquisadores. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar o efeito do extrato pirolenhoso, um subproduto da cadeia de produção do carvão, sobre a germinação de sementes de espécies do cerrado. O extrato foi obtido pela destilação da fumaça da queima de madeira de eucalipto, sendo diluído em água 50, 500, 5000 e 50000 vezes. Sementes de Eugenia dysenterica, Anadenanthera columbrina, Handroanthus serratifolius e Stryphnodendron adstringens foram submetidas à embebição nas diluições acima mencionadas, bem como embebição em água destilada como controle. Foram avaliadas a percentagem e velocidade de germinação. Baixas concentrações do extrato estimularam a germinação de sementes de E. dysenterica enquanto concentrações mais altas resultaram na inibição da germinação em H. serratifolius. Para A. colubrina e S. adstringens, não houve efeito do extrato. Conclui-se que a resposta ao extrato pirolenhoso durante a germinação é dependente da espécie.
