Instructions for authors

The Standards, general procedures, and special specifications on the Agricultural Sciences Booklet are presented in this section.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION INFORMATION

1 TYPING

You must use the latest version of Microsfot Word. Time New Roman font. Size 12. Spacing: 1.5. Justified. A4 paper. All margins 2 cm. Indentation 1 cm. Numbered pages at the bottom right. All lines are numbered sequentially in the trial version. Original articles should be presented in a maximum of 15 pages and Scientific Communications in a maximum of eight pages. Maximum 2.0 MB.

2 AUTHORSHIP

In the evaluation version, the names of the authors should be removed from the text.  After approval, authors will be included. However, only authors registered at the time of submission of the article through the OJS platform may be included in the version for publication. All authors must include ORCID (information for creating ORCID is available at: https://orcid.org/signin  . The maximum number is TEN authors.  The Declaration of authorship and absence of conflict of interest signed by each author must be attached . This is a mandatory requirement for the submission of manuscripts.

All authors must be included in the article submission metadata, filling in the requested data and even authorizing access to ORCID.

3 STRUCTURE OF THE TEXT

a) Title and subtitle (if any)

In bold. Centralized. Scientific name only for unknown species.

b) Summary

The section Abstract is left-aligned and bolded. Text justified. Minimum of 140 and maximum of 250 words. It does not contain quotations. It should present objective, methodology, results/discussion and conclusion.

c) Keywords

Justified. Maximum of three to five words. Separated by point. Avoid words from the title. For texts written in Portuguese or Spanish, the final version must have Keywords. For texts written in English, the final version must include Keywords.

The items Title, Abstract and Keywords should be presented in Portuguese and English, in the same sequence.

d) Introduction

The title of the Introduction section is left-aligned and bold. A brief presentation of the theme, the research problem and the literature consulted should be made in a brief statement. May contain quotations. Objectives in the last paragraph of the introduction.

e) Material and methods

The section title Material and Methods are left-aligned and bold. Left-aligned items and sub-items. Bold. Describe the material and methods developed. Brief indication of themes and processes. It must contain citations. Display Statistical analyses. Process numbers and codes and approval committees with humans or animals.

f) Results and discussion

The title of the Results and Discussion section is left-aligned and bold. Present the results in Tables and Figures. The discussion of the results should be based on the scientific literature.

g) Conclusion

The title of the Conclusion section  is left-aligned and bold. Use the present tense.  Present the answer to the problem proposed in the Introduction. Highlight the reasoned and sustained conclusions of the Discussion. 

h) Acknowledgments (optional)

The word Acknowledgments is left-aligned and bolded. Thank people and/or entities related to the work in the form of contribution.

i) Financing (optional)

The funding agencies that participated in the research should be mentioned.

j) Approval of the Ethics Committee

The expression approval of the Ethics Committee is aligned to the left and in bold.  Cite the approval of the research by the Ethics Committees of the Institution, with humans or animals.

k) Illustrations and Equations

Name illustrations only by Tables and/or Figures.

l) Linguistic resources

Use units of values according to the international system of units.

m) Acronyms and abbreviations

Define the meaning the first time you cite, after an acronym or abbreviation in parentheses.

n) Citations

Use the author-date method.  Author's last name and year of publication. Text is documented by citing the author and the date. Cite original document. Do not use "cited by" or "Apud". Cite only consulted works. You can use "et al." Only in the quotes.

o) References

 The section References is left-aligned and bolded.

Author-date pattern. References only from cited material. Reference all authors.  Present the complete list in alphabetical order. It is recommended to use the DOI or e-mail addresses obtained from the references. Summarize links using your own apps. The authors are responsible for the accuracy of their references. Up-to-date references, preferably within the last five years. Abbreviate only the name of the authors. Full-text journal titles. Do not use capital letters. Separate authors by semicolons.  Do not use (&) in citations or in the reference list.  Do not use italics or bold to highlight any part of the Reference. Use a comma to separate the title and volume of the journal.  Separate journal volume numbers from pages by colons. Use full page numbers. Separate the page numbers by a dash (-) to start page and end page. Indicate the edition from the first edition.

4 ILLUSTRATION AND EQUATION TEMPLATES

Models of illustrations and equations are available to assist in the preparation of manuscripts.-Figures

They are inserted in the text, close to the mentioned excerpt.  They are displayed centered on the page.

Title centered at the top with sequential numbering. Below the illustration: Caption, Notes, and other pertinent information.

The figures are:

Graphs, Formulas, Sheets, Charts, Figures, Drawings, Engravings, Maps, Photographs, etc.

Graphs generated in MS Excel.  Photographs in separate files. Figures in GIF or JPEG formats with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.  -Tables

Generated in Word's "Table". Quoted in the text.  Title centered at the top with sequential numbering.

Below the Table: Legend, Notes and other pertinent information. It is forbidden to paste Figures as Tables.

They are borders in Word's Equation editor, left-aligned in the text and numbered and preceded by the acronym "Eq." in parentheses. -Equations

5 ANALYSIS OF MANUSCRIPTS

The Editorial Team analyzes the papers before submitting them to the Scientific Committee. In this analysis, aspects such as scope, presentation of the manuscript in accordance with the Norms and compliance with the mandatory items for submission are considered, including the text with the article, authors' declarations.

In the submission, the authors must suggest at least three evaluators, informing name, e-mail, Link to lattes or Lattes ID and ORCI, according to the model.

The papers rejected at this stage will be returned to the authors and the others will be submitted to the evaluation of expert reviewers in the technical area of the manuscript.

The evaluation is carried out using the double blind review model. At this stage, criteria are adopted regarding the quality of the  work, relevance, exact formulation of objectives, clarity of the writing, theoretical foundation, updating and comprehensiveness of the cited literature, methodological coherence and precision, results with significant scientific contribution, discussion of the facts observed in relation to those described in the literature, quality of the tables and figures, originality and consistency of the conclusion.

Each reviewer will make recommendations for the article and may also include direct indications in the text of the evaluated article.

In case of disagreement between the indications made by the evaluators, a third "ad hoc" evaluator will be included in the evaluation.

The authors will receive the opinion with specific dates to meet the requested corrections, or with rejection of the article.

After completion of the evaluation and final approval, the authors will receive a copy of the proof for evaluation before publication, which will be made available in a continuous flow, in order of final approval.

6 PUBLICATION FEE

After the approval of the work, the author must pay the publication fee of the work, in the amount of R$ 50.00 (thirty reais) per diagrammed page. Payment Information will be sent at the time of approval of the Proof Copy of the item.

7 FOLLOW-UP OF THE MANUSCRIPT

Any change  in the status of the submitted manuscript and any type of decision will be communicated to the authors via e-mail registered in the system. However, it is up to the corresponding author to monitor the entire editorial flow of the manuscript submitted on the OJS/SEER platform, since he has the password for access. 

8 PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is a crime provided for in the Brazilian Penal Code and Law 9610/98. The article submitted to the Caderno de Ciências Agrárias adopts Antiplaglariasm.net for plagiarism detection.
