Abstract

The growth and speed of production of scientific data are an effect of the information explosion and are conditioned to the scientific development of recent times. Adopting strategies for managing scientific data is a challenge that affects different characters and institutions in the academic environment, such as librarians and libraries. This article is a narrative review, part of an ongoing thesis, and presents preliminary evidence about the management of scientific data at universities and the role played by information services in this process. From the analyzed studies, it was realized that librarians and libraries can contribute a lot to data management, whose developed activities make up instructional and orientation actions, digital curation and planning. It is concluded that the work to be developed needs to be integrated, contemplating the data life cycle and all agents involved with scientific research in universities.
