Abstract

This study presents an investigation that aims at observing harmonic, rhythmic, textural and timbre materials in Villa-Lobos’s AProle doBebê N.1. and N.2, and the compositional techniques in the aspects concerned to texture in vertical and horizontal dimensions. The methodological procedures involved the selection of materials and the more representative musical examples and the application of SALZER (1982)’s techniques of analysis when necessary. One concludes that Villa-Lobos’s compositional processes combine Brazilian aspects of rhythm and melodic lines into an original synthesis.
