Abstract

Analysis of Gabriel Fauré’s late musical style, with focus on the harmony, counterpoint, rhythm and formal structure of the First Movement of the Deuxième Quintette pour Piano et Cordes Op. 115.

    He has received several awards for her artistic career, among them the Best Soloist of the Year Award from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics. His CD and DVD recordings have received the Diapason d'Or Award and the Bravo! de Cultura Award "Best Classical Music CD of 2006. He studied analysis with Koellreutter in Brazil and with Carl Schachter in the USA. He dedicated several years to the study of Gabriel Fauré's works under the guidance of the American pianist Grant Johannesen (pioneer in the integral recording of this composer's piano works). He has been a piano teacher at Universidade Estadual Paulista/UNESP in São Paulo since 1998, working in undergraduate and graduate courses. He has a Doctorate in Music from UNICAMP and a Master in Performance from The Mannes College of Music in New York. His next academic activities include the publication of the book "Advanced Technique for Pianists" by the Publishing House of the Universidade Estadual Paulista/EDUNESP and a Post-Doctorate at the University Paris-Sorbonne on the work of Villa-Lobos, supervised by Danièle Pistone, with a grant from the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo - FAPESP.
