Abstract

The book The Ancient Italian Song: a Comparative Analysis of the Singing Treatises by Pier Tosi, Giambattista Mancini, and Manuel P. R. Garcia by Alberto Pacheco was recently published by Annablume Publishing (ISBN 85-7419-605-3), with funding from FAPESP, as part of the Selo Universidade collection. This book is an edition of the master's dissertation defended by Pacheco in 2004 at UNICAMP, where he is currently preparing for his doctorate.

Author Biography

  • Martha Herr , São Paulo State University

    Martha Herr holds a Ph.D. in Music from Michigan State University and has participated in recitals, operas, and recordings in Brazil, the United States, and Europe, as a soloist and member of various Brazilian music and contemporary music ensembles. She is the coordinator of the Voice area at UNESP (São Paulo) and a professor in the graduate program. In 1998, she received the Carlos Gomes Award from the São Paulo State Department of Culture. She organized the 4th Brazilian Singing Meeting, during which the New Norms for Good Pronunciation of the Portuguese Language were voted on.
