Abstract

The choros for solo piano Canhôto e Manhosamente by Radamés Gnattali (1906-1988) have most of the characteristic structural elements of the genre (melodic ornamentation, elaboration and functions of the bass line, harmony and rhythm). The incorporation of jazz sonorities and techniques associated to stride piano style make them modern and sophisticated without losing their characteristics. This article suggests some criteria for their performance through the analysis of these elements, based on rhythm, articulation and phrasing.
