Educação pela ciência e educação sobre ciência nos manuais escolares
Abstract
O actual empenhamento na reconceptualização do ensino das ciências de sentido CTS aponta para três universos de ensino: educação em ciência, educação pela ciência e educação sobre ciência. A legitimidade social e política do ensino CTS bebe em ideias, princípios e valores inerentes à cidadania e na forma como estes se traduzem, ou poderão vir a traduzir, em princípios de promoção de cidadania - educação pela ciência; A fundamentação epistemológica do ensino CTS bebe em mudanças significativas no ethos da ciência que se traduzem, ou poderão vir a traduzir na educação sobre ciência. Tendo por base tais pressupostos, surgiu a necessidade de conhecer a orientação e o aprofundamento de respostas curriculares concretas a tal problemática. Para tal fizemos incidir o nosso trabalho num estudo de caso de natureza empírica e micro-analítica centrado em manuais escolares. As reflexões teóricas e os resultados empíricos proporcionaram-nos evidências de que os manuais não dão resposta ao ethos da ciência actual e que raramente projectam o ensino da ciência para contextos do mundo real.
