Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has enabled the automation of various didactic and pedagogical tasks for teachers, such as teaching planning, learning assessment, recommending study activities and readings, and so on, especially after the surge in AI use in the post-covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the objective of this article is to investigate how the algorithmic hybridization device operates in the production of truth games that govern teaching in relation to AI in university education. To this end, we used the following theoretical and methodological tools from Michel Foucault: power, government, governmentality, device, truth, and subjectivation. Narrative interviews were conducted with ten professors from different fields of knowledge at a Brazilian public university. We argue that the algorithmic hybridization device produces the truth that AI is an ally of teaching, not a substitute, in order to hybridize it and make digital data-driven teaching work. To this end, this truth works in the games of substitution, trust, personalization, and teaching improvement. The conclusion that an AI education is important in suspending this alliance and creating other truths about artificial intelligence in teaching and learning processes in order to (re)exist neoliberal rationality.
