This review analyzes the book The Structural Basis of Architecture by authors Bjørn N. Sandaker, professor at the School of Architecture and Design in Oslo and at the University of Science and Technology in Norway; Arne P. Eggen, professor emeritus at the School of Architecture and Design in Oslo; and Mark R. Cruvellier, professor in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University. The book underwent a new edition, published by Routledge in 2019, featuring a colorful, completely redesigned graphic layout, with additions and updates to its content. The work proves very interesting in exploring the intertwining of the mechanical and spatial aspects of structures, both as material for introductory courses in Architecture and as a source of reference for design professionals seeking creative inspiration.
