The article addresses the experience of the individual with psychic suffering in mental health care institution. To achieve this, a brief review of the literature was carried out to focus on how such relationships are established between the individual and the institutions. The principles of psychiatric reform are presented as a possibility to rethink the individual/institution relationship by emphasizing respect for users' rights as individuals and building of their sense of citizenship.Downloads
