The aim of this review is to analyze the main points of the book “Museum storage and meaning: tales from the crypt”, derived from a workshop organized by Mirjam Brusius and Kavita Singh for the V&A Museum in London. The text presents the structure and content of the book and makes considerations about the contemporary role of museum storages in the preservation of collections. The discussion addresses institutional and infrastructure problems commonly faced by British and Brazilian institutions and concludes by highlighting the complexity of the selection, valuation, use and extraversion aspects involved in the storage of collections.
