The following article seeks to reflect on an initial experience of implementing Resolution No. 07 of December 18, 2018, of the National Council of Education (CNE), which establishes "Guidelines for Extension in Brazilian Higher Education" and requires that 10% of the total course workload be directed to extension activities, in extension workload (CHE). Addressing the initial experiences in the arts courses at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the text problematizes the ways in which such requirements are being implemented, focusing on the structural problems and conceptions of both art and the university in the social contexts in which they are inserted.
