Darcy Ribeiro: a goldmannian intellectual?

Abstract

This article seeks to verify the possibility of thinking Darcy Ribeiro as a Goldmannian intellectual. Therefore, we analyze, based on his work O Processo Civilizatório, if he falls within the definition proposed by Lucien Goldmann. According to Goldmann, the intellectual is a worldview producer, an articulator of different theoretical constructions and producer of an explanatory synthesis of the real. We begin from the assumption that Ribeiro, in his bibliographic production, meets the requirements.
