Abstract

This work aims to examine some relationships between the film Marighella by Wagner Moura and the context lived in Brazil between 2017, when filming began, and 2021, when it officially premiered in Brazilian cinemas. This chronological cut contemplates the conservative and reactionary escalation that the country has gone through since the election to the presidency of Jair Messias Bolsonaro. These reflections can be developed from dialogues with authors who have addressed the issue of historical scales, such as Bernard Lepetit, Alban Bensa and Maurizio Gribaldi, and with scholars who have problematized the narrative properties made possible by the linguistic turn, such as Gabrielle Spiegel, Alexandre Avelar , Marcia Gonçalves and Jacques Revel. In addition, we can work on the possibilities of positioning cinema in the disputes of the present time and its repercussions on the public scenario through comments from different users on digital platforms.
