Abstract

Global History is a historiographical approach that emerged with the aim of distancing itself from Eurocentrism and methodological nationalism, crossing national and cultural borders. Thus, Global Middle Ages applies this approach to the medieval period, incorporating connected portions of Afro-Eurasia and expanding the concept of the Medieval era beyond Western Europe. Although recent in Brazilian historiography, the Global Middle Ages is becoming increasingly popular academically. Therefore, the objective of this work is to analyze the impact of the Global Middle Ages on Brazilian historiography through a critical, quantitative, and qualitative bibliographical survey. Thus, we analyzed various types of sources, such as books, articles, theses, dissertations, videos, podcasts, course programs, calls for academic positions, teaching materials, thematic symposiums, journal dossiers, among others. In this critical bibliographical survey, we examined aspects such as impact, trends, branches, issues, and criticisms.
