Abstract

To think of the city as an artifact and an organism is an act that emerges in modernity, transgressing the ordinary. The city as a tangle of temporalities and intentions reveals fuzzy processes - continuous and constantly dynamic - that extend beyond the borders of the terrain upon which the city population sits. Urban space is material culture and future projection of subjects. In this sense, it is necessary to analyze how connected urbanization processes that were constituted beyond the national and western architectural pretensions (and also political ones) were considered by the studies of the history of the cities and if such analysis (urban history in a global perspective) is viable for the enrichment of this field.
