Affonso Penna and the engrancement of the Minas Gerais: Repertoires onprofessional instruction (1874-1906)
Abstract
The proposal of this article is to take the politician Affonso Penna as the subject of this study, throug the reconstruction of his professional and intellectual trajectory, between 1874 and 1906. Seeks to discuss the repertoires of their discourses, understand the horizon of expectations regarding the notions of progressassociated with a project of modernity, according to the perspectives of Affonso Penna on the educational programs he sought to institute in the state. It intends to analyse how the school institutions, especiallythose of vocational training, were considered by the eminente politician as na instrument to achieve progress through economic and social development. To analyze the speeches of Affonso Penna, the Anas of the Senado Mineiro were analyzed as source, according to the concepts of experience space and horizon of expectations, both coined by Reinhart Koselleck (2006), besides to the concepto f repertory, as apropriate and redefined by Angela Alonso (2002). The methodology used will be the analysis of discourse, especially that of Patrick Charaudeau (2013).
