Abstract

This article intends to reflect on how basic education teachers can be understood as mediating intellectuals, using the "Cultural Mediation" conception of the authors Ângela Gomes and Patrícia Hansen, a recent concept that has been discussed in the area of ​​intellectual history. In order to do so, it is previously sought to specify other aspects that involve the emergence of intellectual history as a field of research, as well as the period in which the term "intellectual" came to be used in France, and some discussions and definitions regarding of the term "intellectual".
