Abstract

This paper addresses disputes of historical narratives concerning indigenous folk, particularly in media culture in digital environments. It is problematized how different narratives resignify ways of thinking epistemologically the past of those people, as in around the notions of “Little History” and “Big History”. Therefore, we analyze narratives in institutional media, as on the official page of the Fundação Nacional do Índio (FUNAI); in alternative media, as on the “Mídia Índia” website; and in others types of media that focus on the indigenous community of Amarelão, in Rio Grande do Norte, highlighting the “indigenous cyberactivism”. The theoretical dialogues transit between the “Media History”, the “South Epistemology” and the “Cyberculture”, with the methodological use of the “Netnography” that privileges the joint analysis of texts and images. The reflections pointed that rethinking those histories on digital media it's a significant way to glimpse another forms of knowledge about the indigenous past.
