Abstract

The article focuses on the telenovela Pantanal (TV Globo, 2022), an original work by Benedito Ruy Barbosa, with a text resignified by his grandson Bruno Luperi. The Pantanal corner is understood as a sertanejo space, considering the exhibition in prime time of open TV, stimulating reflection on oppression and silencing that victimize men and women. The investigative profile points out how telefiction highlights the damage caused by coloniality, based on the question “How does the construction of diegesis evidence the oppression embedded in the patriarchal system and favors the perception of the damage caused by the traps of machismo?”. Scenes are chosen in which sexist arbitrariness is highlighted, through misogyny and gender violence, and the shackles of the patriarchal structure are emphasized, based on the notions of wounds of Modernity (GUMBRECHT, 2019) and Toxic Masculinity (BOLA, 2022). The methodology combines Critical Narrative Analysis (MOTTA, 2013) with script investigation (MACIEL, 2017).
